There are two types of plants. Annuals, that need to be replanted yearly and Perennials, that come back year after year.

There are two types of food plots. Hunting and Feeding plots.

The feeding plot's objective is to produce as much high quality forage as space allows. The fields can be 3 or more acres. Plots of this size are capable of producing several tons of 30+ percent protein forages.

Hunting plots are designed differently than feeding plots. They are irregularly shaped, a 1/2 acre + or -. They are positioned to take advantage of wind direction, stand location, and hunter approach.
